Fine weather attracted 2500 people including cyclists, walkers, scooterists, and roller bladers to the first Miramar Peninsula Ciclovia on Sunday 16 February. Family groups in particular took advantage of the chance to take young children into a motor vehicle free environment.

Here are some photos from the Ciclovia

If you were one of the many people who turned up as volunteers or participants, thanks! If you’d like this to become a regular event, consider writing to the mayor (mayor@wcc.govt.nz) and/or newspapers (e.g. letters@dompost.co.nz). You may want to say:

  • Ciclovia should be held on a regular basis, e.g. every Sunday in summer
  • The Ciclovia area should be extended, e.g. from Miramar cutting to Scorching Bay
  • It should be a WCC organised event
